too late for changes?

So... I have a question.. I've seen some posts about people making changes after construction has started... how does that work? I'm under the impression that we can't change anything now... I want to look into changing my stove.... not anything structural.. how does that work? Is it even an option?

  1. It must depend on your SR. We were not allowed to once construction had started, but your best bet is to email your Sales Rep and just double check. Never hurts to ask!

  3. touqeyes is right. Our SR has told us many times that we can't change anything, however, it did not stop me from asking! If its really important to you, just push our SR to take it to his boss!

  4. I just requested last week to change my flooring. I received an email yesterday that it was approved. They just would like us to sign the change order ASAP so they can begin their change process before we start construction on 7/1.

    Never hurts to ask.

  5. Just got off the phone talking to SR about deleting some extra electrical outlets that have not even been installed.. Can't do that. No changes or additions he said. Anything that will change the price of the home after it has been disclosed to HUD/in the HUD statement. Anything that affects the loan amount, etc..

  6. I think as long as it is not ordered/shipped you may be able to do it. I would definitely call your SR as soon as possible to find out if it is an option. Technically you can't change at this point, but like others have said, never hurts to try!

  7. It depends on how much of a stink you want to make about it. Changing your stove probably changes your dishwasher and microwave so it will depend on how badly you want it. I made a structural change with a cost premium after they started but it is rare. Talk to your SR and if they don't want to talk to their manager you call the manager. Tell them how much it means to you and go from there. Good luck.

  9. Well... I think the change would be possible at this point, but the gas range is not available with a double (free standing) oven... electric is the only option... and I really want gas.. so it stays.
