Just realized our truck won't fit in the garage

Trying not to freak out! Ugh!

  1. Oh no :( I'm assuming your other car will?

  2. Yes, mine will... just seems ridiculous to have a 3 car garage and pay over $300,000 for a house and have to park it outside. Sadly, we made a comment to our SR when we were going through the process and said we hoped the truck would fit and her response was "Oh, I'm sure it will be fine". Ugh!

  3. Why won't it fit? Too tall? Too long?

  4. too long... garage is 19'7", truck is 19'2" I don't think 5 inches is going to cut it as enough space to get it in....

  5. Oh no!!! That's not good! Isn't there anything they can do???

  6. I don't know... I've emailed the SR and PM... Our garage floor and footers have been poured... not sure what they could do now. :(

    1. Give you some sort of compensation, that's what! You specifically brought it up to SR & they voiced no concern.

  7. I'm not sure what amount of compensation would make up for this. Overall we've been happy with our SR. Although there were some things in hindsight that we realized she either rushed through or skipped. For example, I realized the other day that we never talked about roof/shingle color.. when I looked through the paperwork I noticed she must have picked it for us... I'm guessing there were options for us to choose from, right? Also, after we chose all of our colors, when we got home we realized we didn't pick an interior color. When I called I was told that we didn't choose to do a paint package. We were never offered any paint packages... they were able to fix that. Frustrated. :(

  8. I swear, they do not try to sell you on anything. All the things I added were because I asked, never because she offered them. And as far as the truck, we have a 2012 tundra and it's going to be tight. Our last place we lived, my husband hung a towel up on the wall and pulled his truck all the way in until it was touching the wall, that's the only way the garage door would close. Our new house's garage will be just a tad but longer, but the same as yours probably. He will have to park on the side that is not near the entry door into the house, and walk around the truck. That's what we had to do before. And if we all need to go somewhere in the truck, he will have to pull it out of the garage first so we can all get in...kind of a pain but oh well.

    1. Tight isn't even an option. We measured the footers/floor and measured the truck... less than 2 inches difference. There's no way! :(

  9. We knew our truck wouldn't fit so we were goin to get the 2 ft extension in length but I knew we were getting a new truck that's longer an there was no way it would fit.
I asked the sr what the garage length was because they said it should fit then I measured the truck we had and the one we want and it was pointless because the new one won't fit. I also asked about the size of the washer pan to see if the washer will fit then broke out the tape measure again. The sr didn't have the dimensions our what we wanted to put in the garage so I figured it out myself

  10. I was never even told there was a possible 2 ft extension!!! PM is out of town today. There is another Vic Falls in the neighborhood that is empty. We are going to see if we can go over there and try to pull the truck in.... A 3 car side load garage was $14,000!!!! Grrr... the more I think about this, the more upset I get!

    1. I don't see a 2 ft extension anywhere on my options list... maybe it's not an option for the Vic Falls.

  11. They can do it on front load not side load maybe?

    1. maybe... but it's not on the options list at all for Vic Falls which as all options for both 2 and 3 cars.... Maybe they "forgot" to tell us or put it on the list. Grrr.

  12. It might be a nonstandard, we asked about a lot of floorplans because I wanted 4 feet deeper! Any floorplans that can have a side entry 3 car can have a deep front entry. If we wanted they would have built a Ravenna with a 3 car side entry length with doors on the front to give like 30 ft deep by 20 wide. I really wanted a 3 car front entry with the 3rd car double deep, but they said no way!!!

  13. Oh no, that stinks :( So sorry you were not properly informed. As far as the roof color, in our area we do not have "options" it is black for everyone, so maybe that is true for you as well?

  14. So sorry to hear that. I have read that before that people have had this an an issue and we had to sign a form stating that it wasn't their fault if our cars didn't fit. Maybe they can fix it.

    1. The Garage Acknowledgment states that "Purchaser has been advised that the garage constructed on the Property may not accommodate some vehicles". We signed this after she told us that ours would be fine. :(
Still no response from anyone yet.

  15. I did not think our truck would fit too; however, we have an F150 that fits and the small BMWX3 fit together but you can't put anything else in the garage at ALL. In the meantime, everything has changed and the F150 stays parked outside.

  16. I did get a reply last night from SR who is off until Saturday. So, we appreciate that she took the time to reply even on her day off. She's checking with the PM to see if anything can be done. We'll see.

  17. We paid for the three car garage on ours but now that they have put the flight of stairs in (yes! and no...it's not a basement home) I doubt my daughter will be able to open the door to her Ford Fiesta once she pulls it in!
