Another gripe about the garage

I'm sure you all are sick of hearing me gripe about the fact that our truck won't fit in the garage. But... now it just keeps getting crazier! My husband moved some thing around so that he could park it in the double bay at a little bit of an angle and planned to park my SMALL Nissan Altima in the single bay. Well.... it won't go... can't make the turn without plowing through the grass to make the curve! Seriously????  What a joke! So, even if we bought a shorter truck, we still couldn't park both vehicles in the garage. Putting them both in the double bay would mean we'd only be able to get in on one side of each of the cars because it's so tight. Ridiculous!!

  1. Call your PM and ask him to come over and try parking in either space. They screwed up and you cant utilize what you've paid for. Are they not doing anything to resolve this?

    1. They did nothing to resolve the fact that we couldn't pull the truck in straight and close the door. I just emailed our SR about the fact that we now can't use the single bay. I asked for her manager's contact info since he met with us during building and told us to "trust" him about the garage. We'll see... they've not offered to do squat about it so far. I'm not sure what can even be done at this point. Can't add depth to the garage now, it's done and we're in. Might be able to add some width to the driveway, but not sure. since it's a sideload, we may already be at the width allowed for our lot.

  2. We have a double garage and no matter how we park our small SUVs, we can only get in and out of both sides of one vehicle. I can get in and out of my boyfriend's vehicle, but I have to let him out before I pull my vehicle into the garage if his vehicle is already inside. It was the same way at our apartment that had a double garage too though, so I thought it was normal. It's a bit of a pain especially if it's raining, but we've gotten used to it at this point.

  3. Just curious -- are you all talking about side entry garages? I noticed a lot of our neighbors with side entry garages park in their driveways and I wondered why. We have a front entry garage and my husband and I park our Nissan Rogue and Nissan Juke in there with plenty of room to spare for storage, recycle cans, trash cans, etc. Are side entry garages not as deep as front entry? I know side entry looks a lot nicer and wish it had been an option on my model.

    1. Maybe it is a side entry issue?

We also have a 2 car garage, with the added bump out though, not sure if 2 feet or 4 feet, prob 2 feet I am guessing, we also go an upgraded master suite which made the room above the garage longer? So we are able to fit my Kia Sorento and his 1500 Ram Pick up truck with a 6 feet bed inside of the garage together. And we have one of the smaller homes RH offers.

We also have a wider driveway too that we extended, maybe all those elements makes for a larger garage space I am sure.

Unfortunately for all of us we learned that "trust me" did not go very far!

      Keep on it!!

  4. We have one of the few houses with a front garage because it's a corner lot. I have always been surprised people rave about side garages because I do not see how it is possible to get 2 vehicles in one.. in fact, it is just not possible with the size of the driveway..
If we had a truck, it would not fit either, they had to put in steps to get into the house which took 4 feet off the length of the garage.
